The Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees is a magnificent Belle Epoque building dating from 1861 and situated in Stresa on the shores of Lake Maggiore, opposite the Borromeo Islands. The 179 air-conditioned guestrooms reflect the opulent grandeur of the hotel, with traditional style décor in soft colours featuring stuccos and Murano glass chandeliers, Maggiolini or Biedermeier style furnishings and rich fabrics. Marble bathrooms have jetted tubs, designer toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, telephones and hair dryers. Some rooms have balconies and all guestrooms have satellite television,direct-dial phones,minibars and Internet connections.
Italian and Mediterranean cuisine is served in the refined restaurant with its high ceilings, fine silverware and soft carpets. Walls are decorated with elaborate stuccos and golden leaf, and Murano glass chandeliers grace the ceilings. Lunch and dinner are served on the garden terrace in summer; formal dress is recommended for dinner. Guests can enjoy a refreshing dip in one of two outdoor swimming pools and in summer light meals and drinks are served on the terrace by the poolside. In the hotel's lobby and piano bar, guests can relax in elegant grandeur and enjoy afternoon tea or an aperitif. The Spa Club has an indoor pool and fitness centre and offers an extensive selection of face, body, massage and state-of-the art personalised treatments. Week-long courses of treatment are available, including a lifestyle check up, diet advice, cooking lessons and a lake excursion. Practical amenities at the hotel include babysitting and concierge services, room service, conference rooms, wireless Internet, 24-hour front desk, and valet parking. In the hotel's extensive gardens a tennis court can be found and equipment can be hired from the concierge. The hotel is just 200 metres from the centre of Stresa and the Borromeo Islands are just three kilometres away by boat. Milan Malpensa Airport is approximately 45 kilometres and a 45 minute drive from the airport.

Retningsanvisninger

The easiest way to reach the hotel is by taxi; the fare should cost approximately 130 EUR. Alternatively, guests can take a shuttle bus to Milan Central Station where trains to Stresa are available. From Milan Malpensa Airport go right at the first intersection and follow directions to Somma Lombardo, then follow indications to Lake Maggiore. Enter Highway A8 in Somma Lombardo and proceed on A26 direction Gravellona Toce. Continue for 25 kms on highway and exit Baveno. Stresa is seven kilometres away on the right following the lake.
