Location. Adjacent to the famed 17th-century Villa Carlotta gardens, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace is an early 19th-century building set in the resort town of Tremezzo overlooking Lake Como. The nearest airport is Milan Malpensa, 75 kilometres away.
Hotel Features. The hotel's spa offers waxing, nail care, face and body tanning machines in addition to massage and body treatments. Guests enjoy complimentary access to the fitness centre which contains a sauna and weight and cardio machines. Afternoon tea is offered in the ornate salon, while the billiards salon contains an antique pool table, and, in the 18th-century Villa Emilia adjacent to the main building, there is a games room and a television theatre for viewing complimentary videos.

Both fine dining and casual dining are available at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace, including at a wine bar offering more than 350 vintages, as well as mountain specialities like fondues and raclette.

Two heated pools, one supported by pontoons on the lake across the road, and the other secluded in the garden, provide all-weather swimming. Use of an artificial-grass tennis court terraced above the garden pool is complimentary.

Guestrooms. Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace offers 98 air-conditioned guestrooms over five floors. Individually decorated and furnished, high- ceilinged rooms are decorated in pastel tones, with richly coloured drapes and carpets, molded-stucco details, antique-style desks, recessed lighting in white- wood crown molding, and marble bathrooms. Amenities include safes, minibars, satellite television, dial-up Internet connections, slippers, and bathrobes.

Expert Tip. Guests daunted by the prospect of climbing the 400-metre trail behind the hotel will be gratified to know that the flower gardens bordering the trail are thickest near the trail's beginning and that there is a rustic-wood bench about halfway up from which climbers have a view nearly as panoramic as the view at the trail's end.

Retningsanvisninger

Getting there. A taxi from the airport to the hotel costs around 170 EUR. Twice daily in summer, a bus from the airport goes to Tremezzo and stops in front of the hotel. A train from the airport goes to Milan central station, where train connections can be made to Como. At the Como train station there are trains, buses, and taxis (70 EUR approx) to Tremezzo.
Driving directions: From the airport take the A9 in the direction of Como/Chiasso as far as the Como Nord exit. Then take the SS 340 in the direction of Menaggio. After 25 kilometres, Grand Hotel Tremezzo will be on the left.
