Located in Pallanza by the Lake Maggiore, the Hotel Astor still offers the intact charm of the aristocratic vacation resort. The hotel is in a quite area, surrounded by a private garden overlooking the lake, only 10 minutes from the main square of Pallanza, and 100 meters from the lake beach. The surrounding area feature important monuments like the Palazzo Viani - Dugnani, residence of the Landscape Museum and the 16th century church of Madonna di Campagna, and gardens Villa San Remigio, Villa Giulia, and the most appreciated botanic gardens of Villa Taranto. From Pallanza harbour the Borromee Island are also easily reached. The hotels main building dates back to the 19th century and has been extended and renovated throughout the years. The hotel features 52 finely appointed rooms most with balcony and lake view. All offer private bath or shower, minibar, TV and direct phone line. The Restaurant serves fine local specialities in a panoramic setting overlooking the lake. From Milan-Freeway A8 Milano-Laghi. At first the direction Varese omitting Como is chosen. Therefore, to Gallarate, one lets the Varese direction and the A8 in order to take towards Gravellona Toce following the A26. The possible escapes are Vergiate-Sesto Calende or Arona, Gravellona Toce. Then follow direction Verbania. Once in Verbania follow the directions to Villa Taranto. Pass Villa Taranto and follow the only road bordering the lake. Hotel Astor is after Grand Hotel Majestic, at 50 meters on the right.
From Genova-Freeway A26 Genoa-Gravellona Toce, via Alessandria and Vercelli-Novara. It is continued until the escapes Castelletto Ticino, Arona, Gravellona Toce or Verbania. Once in Verbania follow the directions to Villa Taranto. Pass Villa Taranto and follow the only road bordering the lake. Hotel Astor is after Grand Hotel Majestic, at 50 meters on the right.
