Location. The Crowne Plaza London Docklands is located in London, England, adjacent to the ExCeL Conference Centre, one mile from Canary Wharf and the Docklands Museum, five miles from Tate Modern and the South Bank, and 11 miles from Buckingham Palace. Royal Victoria DLR station is adjacent, and London City Airport is less than a mile away.
Hotel Features. Overlooking the Royal Victoria Docks, the Crowne Plaza London Docklands has a seasonal Health Club featuring cardio-vascular and weight machines, an indoor pool, a spa tub, sauna, and Turkish bath. Wireless Internet access is available in the air-conditioned public areas, and concierge services are available. Multilingual staff at the 24-hour front desk can assist with currency exchange, and secure valuables in the safe-deposit box. Room service is available 24 hours a day, and secure and outdoor parking is offered on site for a surcharge.

The modern Terra Restaurant serves traditional British cuisine, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The contemporary Isle Bar serves light meals, salads, and snacks, alongside a varied selection of beverages, and overlook the docks.

There are nine meeting rooms on site, the largest holding up to 275 persons.

There is a children's playground within walking distance of the hotel.

Guestrooms. The 210 air-conditioned guestrooms are spread over five floors and have contemporary decor in cherry-red tones, with wooden furnishings. Amenities include satellite television with pay movies, direct-dial phones with voicemail, high-speed Internet connections, minibars, safes, and coffee and tea facilities. Bathrooms include bathrobes and hair dryers.

Expert Tip. The largest of the three Royal Docks, Royal Victoria was still receiving commercial traffic as late as 1980, but its redevelopment began in earnest in the following decade, and it is now dominated by the ExCeL Centre. It is a popular spot for water sports.

Renovation notice. Crowne Plaza's bar and restaurant are currently closed for renovations until the 8th September 2008. Meals will be served in the Dockland Suite and Foyer on the first floor. Please contact the hotel for further details.

From London City Airport (LCY):
Distance to Crowne Plaza London Docklands is 0.5 miles, approximately 5 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The best way to reach the hotel from the airport is by hire car or taxi, the latter costing approximately 8 GBP.

Getting around. The London Underground (Tube) and buses are the easiest ways to travel within London. Single tickets are expensive, but an electronic Oyster card offers a cheaper fare. Oyster cards can be purchased from ticket offices for 3 GBP (refundable). Daily or weekly travel passes are the most economical way to travel, and are valid on buses, trams, trains, and DLR, as well as on the Underground. Black taxis are available on the streets, but can be expensive. Driving is not recommended for visitors as traffic can be extremely heavy and a congestion charge zone is operated in central London.
